SOS Ability Chart

Adult Skier Ability Levels

bulletLevel 1 - First Time Skier
bulletLevel 2 - Cautious Novice. You have skied once or twice, are able to turn and stop on very gentle terrain. (not up chairlift yet)
bulletLevel 3 - Confident Novice. You make round linked turns with confidence. ( not up chairlift yet)
bulletLevel 4 - Cautious Intermediate. You ski green runs but are cautious with speed.
bulletLevel 5 - Intermediate. You ski green runs with confidence, are a little cautious on steep blue runs.
bulletLevel 6 - Confident Intermediate. You ski all blue runs with confidence and have the confidence to attempt a black run.
bulletLevel 7 - Aggressive. You ski most black runs but have difficulty skiing them with style. You enjoy the challenge of moguls.
bullet Level 7-8 - All Mountain.  You ski the whole mountain but can be more efficient technically as well as more confident on steep runs or in varied snow.
bulletLevel 8 - Advanced. You ski the entire mountain well and enjoy the challenge of Double Black Diamond terrain.  You wish to ski even more smoothly and/or powerfully.

Kids Skier Ability Levels

bulletRed Stars - First Time Skier. The fun starts here. (handle tow)
bulletYellow Triangles - Able to stop and control speed using a snowplow on very gentle terrain. (Platter lift)
bulletOrange Triangles - Able to link snowplow turns on easy green runs. (Toby Chair)
bulletGreen Circles - Can do consistent snowplow turns on more difficult green runs. Has no problem controlling speed with a snowplow. (Quad Chair)
bulletGreen Squares - Aggressive snowplow skiers in this group can ski green and blue runs and are beginning to ski parallel. (Quad and Horizon Chair)
bulletBlue Squares - Can ski parallel and handle blue runs with ease and they have the confidence to try black diamond runs. (all chairlifts).

Snowboard Ability Levels

bullet Red Stars/Level 1 - First time. You have never snowboarded before.
bullet Yellow Triangles/Level 2 - Able to turn both ways and stop on gentle terrain. You have snowboarded a couple of times.
bullet Green Circles/Level 3 - Can consistently link turns and use the chairlift.
bullet Blue Squares/Level 4 - Can ride on all blue runs likes the challenge of moguls. (This class may use the terrain park)

Specialty Classes: Ski and SnowBoard

If your child is more advanced than the programmes offered, SOS will provide a two hour customized session.
